Re: Novel: Rise of the Magi (Christian/Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Steampunk)

Thanks for sending my copy! I got it in the mail a few days ago and am looking forward to reading it. Hi Randy, Thanks for sending my copy! I've been anxiously awaiting this book for a while. :) You've been working on this for a few years if I'm not mistaken? The first few pages have been great so f...

Re: Community Game extended from a Speedgame?

I know I'm part of the reason the community project died and it's due to my lack of interest/direction in the actual game. I also think it boils down to working with people you are comfortable with and knowing their strengths/weaknesses. For me it's a matter of communication. IrishCream and I are on...

Re: Bugala - Dr. Puzzlejones in Search for Dragons

Great name for a puzzle game! I'm looking forward to playing this.

One of the first games I finished/polished was a tetris clone. I can definitely relate to the head scratching you've be experiencing. Keep at it! :)

Re: Team ArchBee - Dev Talk

I think IrishCream and I are in the same position. We expanded the scope of the game and I'm not sure we'd do it much justice in the next day or so. We are planning to continue development outside the speedgame though. Hope you do the same!

Re: What needs done?

I haven't had a chance to do much with the game but if you want to add a dialog system that would be awesome! The controls are pretty aweful right now and could be improved. Right now the game alternates between a movement turn and an attack turn. Consolidating it into a single movement may be ideal...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

Agreed with the controls, I'm not happy with them either and I'm open to ideas. Right now you move by clicking on a tile and the character moves 5 spaces or less. You can skip your turn with space and so there is a movement step and an attack step. I think I'd rather see it be a little more realtime...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

I've been making some updates to the way Tmx files are loaded. You can see that now your dungeon class generates a TmxMap instead of direct to xml. That's because I've added a function to TmxMap that exports xml. At the moment there is a bug that rotates the exported xml version of the map. It's pre...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

Awesome!! As far as random generation goes I am completely flexible with the format. If you need to separate the map to multiple layers or something like that we'll work it out. Right now I have an object layer of monster spawns and a layer of player spawn points. Those could honestly be a single la...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

That's alright Mene. Unfortunately I haven't had as much time as I had hoped for especially with the holidays. My hope is that we at least keep inching forward. I've been working on making the battle part data driven. Everything is loaded as json data files so they are pretty easy to create. Take a ...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

I posted some basic git commands in the GitHub details post. Thought it would help keep things in one spot. I'm using the development branch to do new things and only when they are stable do I merge with the master branch. My goal is always to have something that compiles before committing, even if ...

Re: GitHub Details

I use most of the basic git commands to get me by. Here are some typical ones to use. Create a local copy git clone https://github.com/CDNCommunity/Untitled.git Creates a local copy of the project, you probably already did this git checkout development Checks out the development branch of code. Use ...

Re: Hosting automated builds

I found a way to hook into the GitHub api with java so I'll be using that. Basically I want to host the latest builds somewhere so anyone can download it and see our progress. The process has to be automated though so that I don't have to log in every morning, download the latest code, rebuild, and ...

Hosting automated builds

Does anyone have a good idea of where to host automated builds? I have the project setup using Apache Ant and can create a nightly build can create a nightly build of the game. Should I just make a directory on my own web server or is there a better place to put it? This should help keep people in t...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

The tilemap class should have a way to handle spacing in the tileset, more than likely that is the issue. It seems to be rendering the black lines between each tile but the overall map looks pretty decent. I'll take a look at it in the next few days. The reason they are unwalkable is due to the way ...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

Line 58 in Map.java loads the tileset image. That should solve your first problem. Second, awesome job on the inventory stuff! You can commit to git when you get it all tested. Try to make sure you're using the development branch but at this point I'm just happy you're making progress! :) I'll be ti...

Re: Prototype Builds

You probably tried to run the MasterServer class in the Flume2D project. You need to click on the Untitled project name and then press the green go button. Hopefully my code makes sense. I tried to comment a lot of the functions and keep things tidy. b-o has some graphics for the tileset started but...

Re: Prototype Builds

Right now the code is all on GitHub under the Untitled project. You'll want to go through the steps on the wiki to get Eclipse running and all that good stuff. I'm using my own Java engine so there are probably some rough edges. I haven't experienced the warping phenomenon so maybe it's a pathfindin...

I forgot to test in fullscreen mode. I think the problem is the engine isn't setting it's width and height values properly. Thanks for testing it out!

Prototype Builds

I have the first build available. Since it's over 6MB I decided to put it on my website. http://matttuttle.com/prototypes/cdn/Untitled.zip You will need to unzip the package and run the game.jar file. Hopefully it works on multiple platforms but I've only tested on Windows. The graphics are my place...
