Re: 26" monitor

Heh, we're pretty much in the same train then Arch I just ordered a 24" Samsung at 257€ earlier today. It's also going to be hooked up to my lappy (a big an bulky one though, no netbook) and to my dvd-player / surround system. It's mostly for enjoying movies from something else than my present ...

Man! That's cheap :o.

I've been looking for a 26" or 24" display myself lately. 245$ sounds really good, hope you like it :)

Re: windows 7 beta

I haven't tried the beta myself, but i've read a few articles about it (they're all over, at least in finnish media). The impression these articles give is that it's basically Vista as it should've been in the first place. They say there's not many changes compared to Vista (the biggest one being th...

Re: pc trouble

My usual advice for the "Fxx" key goes: "Just hit as many F-keys as fast as possible when it's starting up" ;P Also, if you know when things went wrong and you can find backup-points or restore-points (or whatever those were) you could try to restore the system with that. (I'm no...

Re: serverside media player for linux

Hello guys, i've been here and there for a while but now i'm back home (and sick) and gotta try and catch up with the forums. Anyway, i got my hands on a new server during the holidays and put the system working as i planned. So now i have Music Player Daemon running on my Ubuntu Server and all of m...

Re: Managing your time and your project(s)

I'm no master in the subject, but i thought i'd post my thoughts on the matter anyhow. 1. Well it depends on the importance of the matters at hand of course, but mostly 'Real Life' goes first as those things tend to be more important. That's probably why i don't have too much time to work on any &qu...

Re: Windows XP SP3

I installed SP3 and XP bluescreened twice shortly after that, no problems with hibernate though. Haven't had any other problems after that either, though i've been mostly on linux side too so can't really tell if they've done something about it or not.

Re: Computer Science Theory

Like i mentioned on #cdn-chatzone i'm having a course about this stuff too at the uni and I also find it pretty interesting (especially when all the other courses are math, lol). It's my first hit on the subject, hadn't even heard about finite state automatas or context-free grammars before entering...

Re: serverside media player for linux

Proge, do you have any more info on this "media player daemon"? Oh yeah sorry, I was thinking of MPD. It seems to have a nice set of different clients for various OSs, and a nice deal of those seemed to be open source stuff if one feels like something is lacking. The console client ("...

Re: serverside media player for linux

Thanks Mike , but i think MythTv/MythBuntu would be an overkill for my situation as i only want to listen to music. I found out there's some "media player daemon" for linux that's just a backend thingy and has a lot of different GUI options for it. One can use it just as i wanted, having t...

serverside media player for linux

I recently bought a home theater system and started wondering if i could plug it to my server and play my music from there. For this i'd need a media player with back-end on the server and interface on our other computers. I found one that does this on windows machines, but i'm running Ubuntu on my ...

Re: Star Wars The Force Unleashed

Yeah i remember that one too well . I think it was the 4th level and I had hard times getting through that level too, especially when i didn't realise what to do at first . That was probably one of the hardest levels in the whole game as you had to down so many of the walkers. I gave up once on that...

Re: Medieval II: Total War

How did i miss this thread ? :O I'm a big fan of Total war games too, played them all since Shogun. I've got Medieval II, and the Kingdoms expansion to it. I like it lots, just like Trey said it's a great game. It's nice how the different era has changed things on the battlefield and how the game ma...

Re: Star Wars The Force Unleashed

lol. I was uncertain and had to google this Dark Forces II, and i realised that i was mixing Outcast and DF2 . I had totally forgotten Outcast, even though i bought it with my friend and played through more than a couple of times (apparently the game is at my friend's as i couldn't find it, though i...
