Re: Shakedown's New Art Thread

Hey brownboot....not sure if it is possible but even if it is, I would not know where to start... Besides some basic python, I usually avoid the code side..:).... Not that I don't find it interesting. I just have not spend enough time on it for me to help myself!

Re: Shakedown's New Art Thread

Brownboot...Think I will run this past the guys at GA when I particpate in another mini comp. I have not used this kind of setup before but I do something similar by painting my shaders on my models by using the RGB channels independantly. Hard to explain but a similar node setup to split the channe...

Re: Shakedown's New Art Thread

Hey Brownboot....I did not interpret your comment as negative at all :D. The points you make are completely spot on and I definitely were trying this time round to see where I could implement your suggestions from my previous model. Just the comp rules makes it harder sometimes. I don't understand w...

Re: Shakedown's New Art Thread

Hey Brownnboot...Thanx for your reply. I respect your feedback greatly. To answer some of your questions.... Using Emmisive in Blender gives off no light...I faked it with alpha mapped planes and used a light parented to the saber to create the glow in real-time. About the head....I was pushing for ...

Re: Shakedown's New Art Thread

Hey Thanks Lava...here is an update on my Verpine character! She now sits at 8000 tris, with 2048 Diff, Norm, Spec Reflection and Glow map. The Spec map was used very sparingly and the UV's were not mirrored since details on all parts are unique. This is a real-time render from within the Blender Ga...

Re: Shakedown's New Art Thread

Hey Brownboot! Thanks for the feedback. That was quick....LOL I was still on the forum and I had a responce....that never happens. Your crits are spot on but let me ellaborate to why I made the the decisions I did. Firstly I entered quite late into the comp, so I had little time to work on this. For...

Re: Shakedown's New Art Thread

Hey....I am still busy with the character from above.....but thought I would just post something I have done recently for a mini comp over at Game Artisans. I did not have much time for this...so it can definately be improved. Any feedback is much appreciated. We had to pick a muppet character and m...

Re: The SpaceJourney Thread

Hey Lava Thanks for sharing your thoughts behind your design. I think the Q and E key could help. I to was thinking that the scroller wheel could work ...however this goes off from the normal FPS layout especially if you might add more weapons in the future and the player need to scroll through them...

Re: The SpaceJourney Thread

Hey Lava Was hoping to first play your game a bit more before responding but today was hectic and I did not get time. You asked why I find the steering difficult?...Well I think it is partly because of the arrow keys. It feels a bit odd swapping to them. I suppose it is not so difficult...just a lit...

Re: Shakedown's New Art Thread

Thanks for the welcome back guys.... :D

Did a quick test today just to see if the different material groups I have in mind will work. It did not take much time and now I know where to focus my sculpting.

Shakedown's New Art Thread

Hey Guys. I have not posted for a long time but thought I would share this work in progress. At the moment it is still far from done but the basic character idea is in place. Some areas of this character has not been touched and no fine details have been added, so keep that in mind if you have any f...

Hey...I have not posted for a while but I do look into your thread every now and then and as the others have said you are always improving. I love your color use and shading in the last pics. You are also developing a consistent style. Well done mightybotme!

Re: Old Ruin with Fountain

Thanx for the feedback!.... @ achild...I used ZBrush(Decimation Master) for crunching down my scupted mesh to a lower poly version. After that I just tweak it in the areas where I want more or less definition...so no real modeling skill on my part. I am going to transfer my models into the Unreal en...

Re: Old Ruin with Fountain

Here is a small update. I have now converted all the objects I have sculted before into low poly models. The scene is sitting at 3472 tris and I have used 4*512 maps so far. I can use 10 000 tris and 16*512 maps. It could do with loads more optimization but I don't have enough time to do much tweaki...

Re: Old Ruin with Fountain

Hey mene...sorry I'm traveling, so only have sporadic access to internet. Kukanani discribed it correctly. After I created my high polly in ZBrush I created a low poly in Blender. Then I "transfer" the details from the high poly to the low poly by "baking" a Normal map. The noise I was talking about...
