Textual Criticism audio course . free at the moment

If you are interested in the transmission of scripture, where the bible we have today came from, how scholars use ancient bible manuscripts as foundations for bible translations/versions, how those who attack the tenacity of scripture are wrong, and how we know that the bible we have today is authen...

Re: Game Assets and "Lay up your treasures"

Do you consider buying game assets (which you use as a tool to complete a project) to be the storing up of treasures? You might want to read some commentaries on the passage of scripture convicting you. Vincent word studies says : "Lay not up treasures (μὴ θησαυρίξετε) Lit., treasure not treasures. ...

Re: Question about Programming Software for 9-year old

I think you can download free versions of game maker and construct 2 with limited features, and check them out to see if you approve of the included content in provided examples. The registered versions have more features, but not necessarily new graphical content. The main concern in your situation...

Re: Questions About Genesis

This has been my experience also, the Spirit of the Lord will lead us into all Truth - if only we will allow Him to lead us. I don't see synergism as applying to salvation, but I'm undecided on how that concept might apply to those who are already saved. Pharaoh hardened his heart, but the bible al...

Re: Questions About Genesis

If Adam was made in God's image, why did he sin? Why were Adam and Eve given a choice is the first place? Are you answering your own question there? I'm afraid I don't follow you on this one. What do you mean? Some may believe that human choice is part of being made in the image of God. So your 'if...

Re: Questions About Genesis

Was the universe created in 6 days and the 7th God rested or was it 7 phases of creation, which occurred over various time periods? I don't see why the answer to that question would matter. Could it also describe an order of importance, with the first day being least important, to the seventh being...

Re: Questions About Genesis

1) God flooded the world to get rid of sin, but it still existed. If the death of sinners doesn't get rid of the sin in the world, what does? I don't think it says that. Genesis 6 says he brought the flood to destroy flesh, not sin. The sinfulness of the flesh was the reason for destroying the fles...

Re: The Concept of Chance in Biblical Hebrew

Assuming that we are not in the practice of conjuring up coincidences, because we follow the lead the Holy Spirit into all Truth remaining grounded in the Word, A problem would be that someone may conjure up coincidences to make themselves believe that the the Holy Spirit is leading them in a parti...

Re: The Concept of Chance in Biblical Hebrew

Yes, we do that at our peril but should we avoid it? I certainly don't think so. We're admonished by Paul to seek the gifts of the Spirit for our betterment and we're called to "test everything" by the Spirit. I would think we should test everything by the Word, especially claims that the...

Re: The Concept of Chance in Biblical Hebrew

I think/hope you'll agree when I say G-d isn't a concept for philosophical debate. He's a very real Person. Conceptualising His Nature and Abilities depersonalises Him. I think there is a time to step back and take a different look at things. I don't think it ruins a relationship to parse out someo...

Another quote from Joyce, see if you can find the error You mean the fact that she's doing the sort of thing she's complaining about? I always think of this verse when I hear people complaining about watchdog ministires: Eph 5:11 "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, b...

Re: The Concept of Chance in Biblical Hebrew

I always appreciate your long responses bugala. I don't know much about Matt Slick, I'm sure he's not perfect. What you were saying about someone saying something about Jesus changing from God into a human sounds a lot like modalism. I think we've discussed that before. It's common in some pentecost...

Re: The Concept of Chance in Biblical Hebrew

I agree that people with certain kinds of theological differences should still be able to have unity in several ways, but I don't think one should think of what they might consider to be a misunderstanding as some sort of positive beneficial feature. I see it more like this: A view is either correct...

Re: The Concept of Chance in Biblical Hebrew

I guess all terms are somewhat relative, relative to the context in which they are used. The principle is that context determines meaning for any given term. If you are talking about the sovereignty of God, then what is meant by 'coincidence' is not the same as if you are talking about David Hassleh...

Re: The Concept of Chance in Biblical Hebrew

I agree... When the bible records historical actions of the people of God, it doesn't necessarily endorse those actions. For example, polygamists tend to cite the fact that Solomon had multiple wives when they try to defend their practice of polygamy, but they fail to acknowledge that God forbade So...

Re: The Concept of Chance in Biblical Hebrew

hmm.. I think I was mentioning Ecclesiastes 9:11 as something to think about. I think the biggest argument against meaningless purposeless randomness in the world would involve God's decree, and might also include Romans 8:28. But regarding coincidence, it's somewhat of a relative term. There are di...

Re: a Kissing game

There is a common worldy misconception that it's misogynistic to not embrace a blurring of gender roles. The charge is often laid that it's sexist to believe in gender roles. Yet sexism is placing higher value on one gender over another, and not the distinction of roles for equally valued genders. T...

Re: Community Game: Lets get started - The Graphics part.

What will the game play be like? The perspective of the graphics will be influenced by that. The amount of graphics can be minimized initially with room for expansion, so for example if you make a game like those zelda type games pictured above, you can make 4 angles (or even 1 mirrored east/west vi...

Re: Community Game: Lets get started - The Graphics part.

What I'd like to know is how many and of what type of graphics will be needed. If you don't need that many graphics, then it wouldn't be a big deal to make them a bit more complicated. If you could make a list of all of the characters and decorations that need sprites, how many of them can be recolo...
