Re: What is a Christian Movie? (Part 1: Evangelistic Fiction)

Also, as a Christian what else do I have that is a greater story? I am thrilled with the story Jesus coming to earth. In fantasy it is the true white knight leaving his castle to rescue his bride! In sci-fi it is the great one saving his galaxy! In romance it is the true lover winning the reluctant...

Re: Spiritual condition of the CDN

I'm with andygeers and ArchAngel on this one - I think spending time on scripture is an important moiety of our walk with God, but it can't/shouldn't be formalized as some sort of pass-fail indicator of spiritual health. As for argument - isn't it ok as long as it's done civilly and the ultimate goa...

Re: the bible

A pm is is fine, we can continue the discussion there.. Say, could you count me in on that? I'd like to see that claimed solution! Interesting discussion. I recently read something from GK Chesterton about logic, which (I think) corresponds with some of the discussion on the first page... http://ww...

That looks very interesting, especially with a strong focus on moral choices. Like you guys, I wonder how much 'fun' - perhaps more specifically, what sort of fun - this game will turn out to be.

Re: How does a Christian Evolutionist see the Genesis Creation?

Most of what you say makes sense, ArchAngel, except that the earth's heat production is mostly from the decay of radioactive metals. The remainder comes from planetary accretion, which isn't quite the same thing as pressure. My source for this is wikipedia; take that much as you will! :) However, we...

Re: How does a Christian Evolutionist see the Genesis Creation?

Just a thought about geology. It`s a science based upon a lot of guessing, you can`t test geology in laboratory. They say that the earth has a solid core and liquid `body` but they never went there to see it. Is it an assuption because of the magnetic field of the earth? it almost means that we`re ...

Re: Back to Python...

Huh! I stand corrected.

I'm surprised that lists can hold multiple different types. I looked for examples of this, but couldn't find any. So, what happens when you sort a list full of ints and strings? :?

Re: Back to Python...

Hey PFC, a quick further clarification on the difference between tuples and lists - I'm pretty certain that, unlike in a list, one can have values of different types in the same tuple . So (1, 2, 3, "helloworld") is a valid tuple, but [1, 2, 3, "helloworld"] is not a valid list. I haven't done pytho...

Automatic login/logout settings

I seem to be getting logged out automatically a little faster than I'm comfortable with. In my profile, I saw a setting that can log me in automatically every time I visit the site. I might end up using that, but I'd rather simply be able to lengthen/turn off the automatic log out. Is there a way to...

Re: Religions Role in Games?

I have a couple of thoughts to bounce in this general direction. From our (Christian) point of view, I see two main objectives in putting religion/faith into a game. It might be to reach out to non-Christians, perhaps planting some small seeds - to misquote a common saying, the game may be the only ...

Thanks for all the welcomes! @ Mene-mene: it has certainly been enjoyable! We've mostly been working with Java, since it's nice for academic/theory stuff. But we got to get our hands dirty now and again :) There was one class I took, called "Systems development project" which must have been the most...

Introducing Cephron

Hello all! My name is Luke. I'm so excited to find this forum! I've really been into the idea of making Christian games (or, at least, games that glorify holy things as opposed to shallow things) for quite a long time, but I never searched the topic very seriously, so I never found this site. I don'...
