Re: Game Assets and "Lay up your treasures"

hey hey, Just figure to point out a couple things, since this is something I deal with as well - although more generally, in how I consider using any resource. It could absolutely be a complete waste. A futile effort of your own devising. ;) However. It might be God's plan; it might be for the redem...

Re: Questions About Genesis

If you want a quick and thorough answer for these things, there are better places to look. But I like thinking about these things, so I'll say some of what I know. Genesis Chapter 1 What does it really say? Is it an actual account of what happened or an allegory? If it's an allegory, what does it me...

Re: I am looking for the best of the best.

You've come here to find people that want to share the gospel with games. That's pretty sweet. We follow everything that's even slightly "Christian games" or "Christian devs". We've seen allot that claim to be different. Some are good. Many of them tell stories which conflict wit...

Re: Could a forum be turned into a game?

Actually, stack overflow was designed to make communication a game. So, yes. But regarding a 3D world to walk around in & etc. Interesting...don't think it adds much to it. But still interesting. I like the idea of character customisiation. For some reason I keep thinking this would be a minecra...

Re: Resolute Child - Development thread

Its a homemade crossbow. Update So since my last update, I still haven't been able to work on this much. Today, I worked out the problems...and have some ideas to solve it all - I want to make this a collaborative project. There are two problems to this. First, the repo is huge. Second, it needs to ...

Re: Community Game: Lets get started - The Graphics part.

Pixel art is something everyone can try. Not that people can't try modeling...etc (and I would find it quicker to make those bean characters in 3D than to draw them...animating a sprite takes forever) but its more daunting. I usually stick to coding, but more and more I'm finding I can do art if I p...

Re: New to making games

Try to focus on building insanely fun gameplay mechanics. Making games starts with design, and the best design imo is done on the fly - scripting up some unusual mechanic that forms the core experience.

For implementation...a little skill in all (well, most) areas goes a long way.

Re: Resolute Child - Development thread

LOL Thanks for the interest Ok, so I'll attempt to work on it every week for the next four months. It'll be sporadic so I'm not likely to achieve much, but its good to keep it in mind...I like to spend allot of time considering mechanics that could be fun. Anyway, I made a video of the last things I...

Re: Dev Blog | TheLittleSettler

Well, I enjoyed it but didn't end up working on it any more than that (well actually I did update the shader so it could change the colour of stuff to go from drought->lush). Not going to bother uploading, since in the state it is in its just a driving mechanic and a nice shader.

Re: Dev Blog | Dylenbrivera

When you see the screenshot, what do you imagine in your head the game will play out like? I'd love to make adjustments to the game based upon what people would like to see. A platformer-adeventure game. Driven by a story. Not fast paced. Might have puzzle elements. Character is probably on his own...

Re: Dev Blog | TheLittleSettler

Visual theme works ok. Car controller working. This one is from the unity car tutorial. The one thing about the visual theme is that the lack of texture for the grass makes it harder to perceive speed. I may add in a grass texture. Its also much easier for me than drawing sprites. https://dl.dropbox...

Re: Dev Blog | Bugala

Well, you do need a fairly likable protagonist, though I'd argue you don't need to tell a story from the protagonist's perspective (but I spose its easier to, especially with the limited time).

Didn't know that about Woody.

I was thinking of embedding a unity web player build in a forum post...probably too much to ask.

swf would be nice, and I'm sure its been done many times over.

I chose my theme (Hosea 6:6) but had a hard time with ideas so, for the rest of my design process I'll probably jot down the process I went to get from Hosea 6:6 and my own skills, limitations and preferences to a game design. I want my game to communicate the meaning of that verse, so I have to ask...

Re: What do you use to make games?

Not flawlessly. I've only personally used a couple of blender files...once had a minor issue with it. It would be worth searching for "blender" on unity answers and having a scan through to see if there's any issues. I've had some trouble with maya binaries (or was it fbx...we used both, a...
