Re: What makes a game 'Christian'? Should we make them?

I'm going to have to agree with ArchAngel here. A game should let the person playing the game interpret what you're trying to convey. If they didn't get what you trying to convey, that's fine, they may not be ready or open to what you have to say. My favorite author is Terri Blackstock because she i...

Re: What needs done?

I finished the dialog box system sooner than I thought it would take. Part of the reason it happened that way is because I wasn't able to test it to see if it even works. Also the system is based off of the john.json file so the dialog system is very simple. If you could make some different scenario...

Re: What needs done?

I did some work on making move and attack one action by adding MoveAndAttack to PlayState. One problem is I don't know if the player's actor will move next to the enemy. Here's the code in question: enemy = (Actor) scene.findAt("monster", touch.x, touch.y); if (enemy != null) { getPathTo(touch.x, to...

What needs done?

Hi! It's been a while. I've noticed that there hasn't been much activity around lately. If it is okay, I'm willing to help with the parts I'm not too good at. If the dialog system isn't finished I found this website: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/components/dialog.html" target="_bla...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

Sorry I haven't been around much recently. I'm not good at making a dialog system or AI, so I can't do much. If you have anything else that needs done, I'll see what I can do. Also I have an error with the race.java: Multiple markers at this line -The method clone() from the type Object is not visib...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

The format for the random dungeon .tmx file is easy to change and can be pretty flexible; I'd just need to know when the code needs updated. I have a few questions about adding a wiki page to GitHub. How do I add a wiki page to GitHub? What information would I need to include? How should I format th...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

Thank you for posting the git commands HeardTheWord. I finally uploaded the random dungeon generator into the development branch. Some parts of the code I didn't know where to put, so I tried organizing it the best I could. Also the code might take a while if it has to work on big maps, so you might...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

I finished a very basic random dungeon generator that works. It just needs map exits and to be walkable. When it's possible to make either of them, tell me and then I'll add the code. Sorry, I'm not familiar with git commands. I tried finding out how they work before posting, but I sure how they wor...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

Thanks for the help. It solved my problem. I started working on the random dungeon generator and I think I'm half-way done. I've run into two problems through. Although the character moves correctly on maps made with different images, the map doesn't display correctly: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/360444...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

I'm not sure if double posting is okay here, but anyway... I did some coding for the inventory, but I won't be able to test it until a dialog and menu system set up. Here's the code: package com.christiandevs.rpg.item; public class Inventory { public Item items[]; public int currentQuantity[]; publi...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

I have run into a few problems with the game. The first one is that a bunch of errors appear if double click the game. The second problem is a coding problem. I created a map using a png other than tileset(it's called owsamp) and this happened: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36044478/Community%20Game/Error...

Re: Prototype Builds

Edit: I was going to give up helping with the game because I was discouraged, but I changed my mind and I erased what I said. I'm going to see what I can do to help. If I understand what you want me to do, you want me to make the game handle larger tiles. Am I right? I'll look at the code some more ...

Re: Prototype Builds

Thanks for the help. I got the game running now. I'll see what I can do about the tileset. (I'll also try to remember to add comments; I'm terrible about remembering to add them) Edit: I'm unclear about what I'm supposed to do. If I'm suppose to program in some new tiles, it looks like the code hand...

Re: Prototype Builds

Thanks for the help! I'll see what I can do. Edit: I ran into some errors when I tried debugging the project. Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

I was making a puzzle game while waiting for the community game to get started. I don't have a name for it yet besides New Puzzle Game. Here's a screenshot of the game: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36044478/PuzzleGameInstructions/Step4.png The goal of the game is to survive for 50 turns by matching 2 or ...

Re: Prototype Builds

I'm not sure if this is important but the people following the main character sometimes warps instead of walking. Also, when the main character walks into a corner, the people trap him so he can't move out. Other than that, it's pretty impressive. How can I help with programming? I want to help but ...

Re: Speed Mechanic #1!

My mechanic is the Board Game Effect. Each turn a player draws a certain number of colored cards. Each card has a different effect. Blue cards move your board piece forward a certain number of spaces and red moves your piece backward a different number of spaces. The green card activates the board s...
