Re: Project organization tips. Any takers?

Here's another tidbit/idea. As a game dev, there are likely several processes that are manually performed. This could be copying over files between software builds, editing images, backing up projects, etc. Automating these processes can be a huge time saver here. Even if you're on a windows box, it...

Project organization tips. Any takers?

Hey there. I call myself jestermax, although some of the old-timers on this forum may call me... jestermax. I'm a software engineer by profession and in the past I've dabbled in game development and other interesting endeavors. One of my more recent projects is a game code named "Zombie Mansion...

Re: Return of the Jestermax (and stuff he's been working on)

Brandav: The initial idea of this project was to see if I could make some Doom-style gameplay with this 2d-in-3d approach, where you look for keys and shoot zombies. After a while, it became more obvious that this could be used for some much better mechanics and the implementation cost wasn't even h...

Re: Return of the Jestermax (and stuff he's been working on)

Hey, Thanks for giving me the heads up on fixing the videos. Looks much better now. I've been assuming people would compare it to Fez. I'm happy about it actually; I didn't see the game until after I built the mechanic in, but Fez is popular and it makes it easy to describe to people. I've been at t...

Return of the Jestermax (and stuff he's been working on)

Werd yo. Haven't been here in a while, but I figured I'd drop by to show off some stuff I've been working on. It isn't much (stupid work gets in the way), but I finally have some videos to show for my effort. There's project info on my blog ( http://www.jestermax.wordpress.com ), but here's the gist...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

Hey now. It's been a while since I've posted on this forum, but I still have some updates. First thing's first; I got my Master's degree (woo!) so that's exciting, but I've been working non-stop on some fancy side projects. One such project is a game prototype. I've finally gotten it up to a playabl...

Re: Published now

I developed some software that aids digital film production. It does a bunch of things like aligning a film's script to all of the footage of the film automatically, manages pre- and post-production content, and has some visualizations for helping film editors sift through their footage during clip ...

Published now

So I haven't been on CDN in possibly a number of years now, but for an update: I got published for my research recently. I got to go to the west coast to present it in front of a jury of my peers too. There were no survivors.

For the backlog of updates check out: jestermax.wordpress.com

Re: Liking C++ discussion

I think the thing I like about C++ is that it's a simple interface to some cooler things (yes, I know C does the same thing).
I've been using it lately with NVidia's CUDA and OpenMP lately and it's fun. Writing CUDA code is much better in C/C++ than assembly and you can impress the ladies with it.

Re: Large Hadron Collider

LHC is pretty nifty.

Regarding better uses for the cash though; I'm sure there are many but it's always easier to tell other people how to spend their money than manage your own. I'm sure most people have plenty of useless gadgets and entertainment units.

I like the part of development when you get the girls. Which is ALL THE TIME with my wicked computer-hacking skillz.

Also, I'm trying to kickstart the robot uprising with my evolving AI research :D

Re: Good job CheeseStorm

Ooooo I've done that actually. Good stuff. Actually my first time i screwed it up. I wanted to make garlic toast so I tried just broiling it with the garlic powder/salt and butter but of course it only worked for the top. I think I want to try cooking with some alternative cheeses now actually. Any ...

Re: Epic releases UE3 powered UDK for free

@Matt: Says the CEO of GarageGames! The license isn't bad for small teams/games to get games made and sold. But I doubt I'd be a fan of using it to release a full game. If you look at the costs in MAKING the game and compare it to the 25% off-the-top royalty fees after you break 15k, it doesn't seem...

Re: Good job CheeseStorm

Haha Brilliant HanClinto I vote we turn this CheeseStorm thread into a thread about cheese. All in favour/flavour? I thoroughly enjoy cooking with cheese, but I've only started my cheese quest recently so I can't do much. I DID finally figure out how to make cheese spaghetti though. Turning point in...
