Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

Recently made a silverlight sudoku solver. I was hoping to make a little money from it through advertising but it is quite hard to get advertising for a site that isn't public yet for some reason. Also I was planning to keep the page the solver was on simple to help with the hosting costs so the ad ...

website concept

I decided recently that I needed to get a website going to host my projects so I sat down today to create a mockup off the home page of that site. I was going for a futuristic underground type look. Not sure how well I pulled that off. I also included my brand characters. I know that the characters ...

Re: The topic of Christmas

Here is the scripture that you asked for. Took me a while to find it because it is heavily overlooked in many web pages on the topic which tend to focus more on the other "gods" aspect. Deuteronomy 4:15-19 . I take this to mean that we are not to make AND not to worship these idols. I woul...

Re: The topic of Christmas

On the portrayal vs idolizing question I believe the former is the one that applies most here. On the trees, if I recall the purpose of the law was to help prevent the Jews from returning to worshiping trees and shrubs as they had a tendency to do when not following God in the Old Testament. I am no...

Re: Community Game Annoucement

Since a big part of my game engine was the inventory and dialog system I thought I would contribute the code here. It is in c# so it will need to be converted. Where ever you see a BitmapTracker just replace it with your bitmap equivalent. It comes from other areas of my code and would normally allo...

The topic of Christmas

It's that time of year. Time for a topic that will probably step on a bunch of toes as the truth seems to do. Though I will admit that most of this is coming from my memory which isn't perfect, but I don't know many that have a perfect memory. And no this isn't just about Santa. There is more to it ...

Re: c# threading question

I didn't think about using a flag variable. I think I will do that and throw in a sleep loop when it is set. Theoretically this operation wont take long, and it won't happen very often. Just have to keep things sane for when it does happen or else I will have some tricky bugs to deal with in the fut...

c# threading question

I have a collection(List<int> or equivalent) that is going to be read frequently and modified infrequently. When it is modified many of the elements must change at the same time before any other operation can read the collection again or else there will be inaccurate information. During the same loc...

Re: How Would You Respond?

The source of this type of opinion is really made up of a couple of components. One of them is the "traditions of men" upheld by our churches. A biblical example would be the ceremonial hand washing before meals(which still seems to be unknowingly upheld in many households though not to th...

Re: How Would You Respond?

Not feeling very Christian right now so I will attempt a theory from the atheist's side to essentially play devil's advocate in this discussion(somewhat literally due to the topic). Don't read this if you feel yourself as being weak in the faith. This is VERY anti-christian(or at least the popular i...

Re: motivational escrow

I am pretty good at doing what I say. At least for a while. Large part of this is my principle that everything I say should be the truth to the best of my knowledge. The first thing though is getting me to commit in the first place without giving myself a way out. That being said I know now that I ha...

C# code double check

Looking for a second opinion of some code to make sure it does what I am intending. It is some funky logic so I could have made a mistake that my compiler wouldn't catch. The purpose of this code is to take an array of System.Collections.BitArray's that are all of equal length and reduce it down to ...

If you make a windows executable I am willing to test it on my core i5 laptop 2.67Ghz and I think it is logically a quad core. I also have a Nvidia Geforce 310M. I am running Windows 7 64-bit so it should handle 64-bit code fine. I would compile it myself but I have never been able to handle the she...

Re: Speed Mechanic #1!

The game mechanic I am thinking of would involve a line of compartments that move across the screen as they are filled. The task would be to put blocks of different colors on the line to match a given pattern as closely as possible. As the game progressed the number and selection of the colors would...

Worked out the elusive hair problem. Basically I had the hat riding too even on his head. I also managed to give him real hands this time. Lastly I played around with his arms to make them a little more realistic and put them is sort of a "hands up" pose so I could define his elbows. Lastl...

christo's art thread

Last two days I have been putting in some work on my trademark thief image. I figured this was a good point to stop and show my work so far. Note how ever that I do not considered this finished, but I will probably have to up the resolution again to do that. Here is the image I started with which wa...

Being here is my closest thing to talking to other programmers. I don't really have anyone else to talk to about it that would understand what I talking about. And it is more about getting motivated to start doing something that may be fun once I actually start rather than just wasting my time away ...

I was just thinking about personal accountability and this thought came up. I am really bad at keeping my self on track on my projects because there is no guaranteed reward for doing so. I haven't seen a good performance to reward relationship for quite some time in my life except maybe in some of t...
