Re: Need names for two groups

Well, thanks for all your ideas, gang! Thanks for taking the time to reply. As I posted over in the other thread, you can read the end product here: Expository Coding. I'd really value any feedback (in the other thread) if you have the time to take a look.

Re: New article on Christian Computer Games

I should have said last time - cheers for the positive feedback guys! I've just published part two: Expository Coding As usual, please give me any feedback - positive and negative! Which team are you on at the moment? Anything you don't agree with? Anything you think I could explain better? Too long...

Need names for two groups

I'm starting to write a second article on the theme of Bible-teaching computer games for my website, and I need your help! My intro starts off with a discussion about a disagreement between two groups of people. For clarity, I want to give a name to each group (e.g. Pirates vs Ninjas) but I'm trying...

Browser Shortcuts

You probably think you know every keyboard shortcut there is to know for Firefox/ IE, but today my efficiency at whizzing around between websites took a huge leap forward thanks to this:

You can also use a single * prefix to get all excess arguments in a tuple instead of in a dictionary (as the ** does). Not loads familiar with how to use tuples though.

Re: Python funtion args

I think the correct solution to this problem is to have a final argument prefixed with **. e.g.: def test(formalArg1, formalArg2, **keywords): for arg in keywords: print arg, ':', keywords[arg] The ** prefix means it sucks up all additional arguments passed to it beyond the formal arguments. So test...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what your working on.

Today I've downloaded Celtx (as recommended by some of you guys, I think?) and am merrily using it to begin work on writing the script. It's quite slow going, but it feels good to be firming up the details more and more. Having spent a few more moments using this software, I have to say, I think Ce...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what your working on.

This week a contact of mine has been producing some AWESOME concept artwork for my Bible-teaching computer game . It's so exciting! Today I've downloaded Celtx (as recommended by some of you guys, I think?) and am merrily using it to begin work on writing the script. It's quite slow going, but it fe...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what your working on.

Andy, will your game be released to the public, or is it just for a special case. just wondering coz I'm interested in seeing it in action. I definitely intend to release a free downloadable demo to my website once I've got sufficiently far, apart from anything else to get some cheap labour to help...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what your working on.

Praise the Lord, tonight was an amazing step forwards on the story for my first Bible-teaching computer game . I had a friend round for dinner to bounce some ideas against him, and by the end of the night we'd managed to produce an entire storyline with all of the large-scale puzzles in place. It's ...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what your working on.

Today I've been setting up a wiki for my Bible-teaching computer games and populating pages about characters and locations to help me communicate with the artist who's going to be doing a bit of concept artwork for me in January. It's a really helpful thing for my own thought processes too!

New article on Christian Computer Games

Hi all, I posted a while ago to say I was thinking of taking my blog in a more development-oriented direction, with articles geared towards Christian software developers and Christian software development in particular. I got some fairly positive feedback, so decided to make a go of it. I've switche...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what your working on.

Heh, I'm glad there's a Talk Is Cheap thread - feels like home already Today I think I'm working on an article for my relaunched website ( http://www.geero.net/ ) about why I'm bothering to make Bible-teaching computer games . I think I'm going to title it "Expository Coding". But don't ho...
