I agree with Mene - in certain areas the smudging really helps, other places not so much.

Re: Wordpress: How to to show page as main page instead of blog?

Very doable - go into the admin section, find the "Settings" section and the "Reading" page, then say "Front page displays as - static page"

Re: CGDC 2011

Tim, I went to the conferences back in '03 and '04 when I lived right in town. I'm still thinking about going this year. I know I need to decide QUICKLY. This is ONE crazy week for us and I don't do well when I feel like a pinball, bouncing around from here to there. I see I needed to respond by ye...

I think it just means it's allowed to display it through the web interface: "necessary for the service" hardly covers using it in an advertising campaign or whatever

Re: hello and prayer request

I would really recommend a book that I've found helpful called Running Scared: Fear, Worry and the God of Rest by Ed Welch. I don't struggle with anything nearly as severe as what you've described, but I'm definitely what you would call an anxious personality type, and I've found this book extremely...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

Slightly frustratingly, though I'd had this week planned as my big "get ready for CGDC" week, I ended up getting ill :( But that's ok - I've still managed to make a bit of progress on Ebenezer In particular, I've now got the real intro scripted up. I still hope to improve it later on, with more litt...

Re: Christian Video Games and Morality... bad?

I guess in hindsight I probably picked the wrong title for my video :)

Really I guess the word I mean is "moralising" rather than "morality". What I mean is explained in a bit more detail here.

Re: The Christian Game Scene

As the person writing or making it, you should be the person most intrested in your game, if you are ignoring sections of dialouge, probably means so will everyone else, and it is too much. or needs to be rewritten in a more entertaining way. That's pretty much what I meant by figuring out what peo...

Re: The Christian Game Scene

Sam, This seems like a significant post, so I feel compelled to reply even though I don't have much to say :) I wouldn't give up on it being possible to monetize Christian games, though. I'm planning on doing a blog post or two about this at some point - check out some of the stuff that indie develo...

Re: Eek - need some cultural sensitivity advice from an American

I'm assuming he's referring to Saul searching for donkeys and becoming anointed to become king. Yeah... it's just a synopsis of the story from 1 Samuel 8-12 that my game is based on, the king they find is Saul. Turns out that people assume I must be talking about Jesus, which doesn't help matters! ...

Cheers guys.

Mene-Mene - good thinking about colt/dolt

Is "dolt" pretty innocuous, or am I going to have problems with that too?

Eek - need some cultural sensitivity advice from an American

Hey folks, I'm getting reading for the Christian Game Developers Conference next month, and am designing myself a T-shirt promoting Ebenezer . I was going to use this as a slogan: "They set out to find some donkeys Instead they found themselves a king Though he turned out to be a bit of an as" ('a-s...

Do you have any kind of online portfolio / somewhere we can see some of your models?

I could potentially use a character modeller on the Bible-based point & click adventure game i'm working on: http://oldtestamentadventures.com/ebenezer/

Re: How to Design a Christian Themed Game

That's really good stuff that gels a lot with the stuff I've been thinking. Particularly his bit about how rewarding the player for doing certain 'good' things ends up teaching morality- which is NOT the message of Christianity. Also the stuff you've already mentioned about where the tension is: tha...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

I've been trying to put some hours in on Ebenezer getting something worthy of showing off at CGDC ready for next month. Turns out that no matter how much testing you do on your PC, you only really find out how good your UI is when actually testing for real on an iPhone - you just don't think that yo...
