Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

I did a bit more work on my new engine. I was bored today so i drew out my schema for my GUI architecture, the physics/collision system, and the game state logic handler for allowing a developer (me in the future) to make games better. Here's a site I whipped up to keep track of stuff as I complete ...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

I added a particle system to my game engine. Right now I have basics like billboard particles, variable direction, velocity, etc. I still have to clean it up a bit but I think I'll stick with GL's alpha texture rendering instead of using GLSL this time though. I'll post a screenshot once I find more...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

Yesterday I started coding (modifying some code I wrote a while ago) a 2D-in-3D adventure game engine. Right now I have the rendering working exactly how I want it to! I have a scene loader that dynamically builds levels, and the tiles and walls are rendered using per-pixel lighting via GLSL. The wa...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

I'm using Ogre for the render. I wanted to give the blocks and enemies a Cartoony/Arcadey feel. Are they too bright? Or should I maybe tweak the style of the brick ground platform to make it fit better with the theme? Hmmm... They're not too bright but you might consider using a cel-shaded effect t...

Dual monocles are the r0x0rz; he's like morpheus or something. So is the character jet? or just his head? cause I think a giant Jet-head would rock; You could yell at people... and eat giant ice cream sandwiches... and give high fives with your forehead....

ShepherdsEye: You might consider using less lighting in the block materials. What are you using to render them?

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

I turned off reflection for that disc-plane. It uses UV coords to generate the texture itself. That's cool but you have to post screenshots showing texturing in all glory. I'll probably write more "artistic" shader styles before i do a proper texture sample. I've been reading research pap...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

Here's a few screens of what my ray tracer is looking like. There's descriptions on my webpage but here's a few highlights: -features swappable render strategies (first two use blinn-phong lighting, third uses cel-shading) -the two spheres have some reflection on them -the circular plane has a proce...

Re: Another failure by NVidia/Epic games

I'm not sure what i'm going to do. It's not a matter of cheaper, it's that I bought this sucker when it was new (when i built my monster dev machine) and now I find out I can't even use it for what i want.
Yes, I've tried all the basics. I even tried emailing BFG helpdesk again to see what they say.

Maya Exporter Plugins Question

Hey now,
Does anyone here have experience with using exporters in Maya? I'd like to bounce a few questions off you if you wouldn't mind (i'll probably post them here once i'm not at work).
Also, if that person had experience with the Maya PL edition (not required but helpful) that'd be great.

Re: Another failure by NVidia/Epic games

there's plenty of other people with issues but they all gave up I've upgraded to the latest drivers and still nothing. Oh yeah, and now i keep finding articles on class action lawsuits (i think more than one now) against nvidia for their A) faulty 8800 series, and B) hiding the scale of the problem....
