Another failure by NVidia/Epic games

So after I get Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 installed on my machine (has been working fine on my dad's PC for weeks now), I find out the game has the same issues as UT3 did; Consistent stuttering. This happens even on the game menus (before loading up a game!). The best their helpdesk could to is blame the ...

Re: Movies that should be made

Ohhh OHhh Run Like Hell. Outstanding game + story + voicework + band music - odd name for a game.
Second Sight: Potential for awesomeness in a movie

Front Mission: Giant robot-mechs shooting at each other = better storyline then the Transformers movie

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

This morning i started a steampunk robot model for my animation course. Here's some renders from my work. They're all on my website just below my graphics programming: m http://jestermax.googlepages.com/SteamBot_Jan28_2009.jpg http://jestermax.googlepages.com/SteamBot_Jan28_2009_A.jpg http://jesterm...

Re: Torque 3D - water and wetness

Then perhaps he DID go the way I just talked about. His demo on the blog showed dynamic water collision calculations so maybe this is a totally different demo?

Re: Torque 3D - water and wetness

Ohhh, he's actually using real math to do the calculations via GPU. You could simulate the same water-on-surface effect using an animated bumpmap but his way is more dynamic. The blog wasn't much help though :P his video was the most useful thing on there

Re: Straight Playthrough of Marble Maddness in 2 min

Wow, watching that video again reminds me how this game actually creeped me out when I was a kid. Something about the music and the height of the maps (yeah, i know). Watching it again also makes me disappointed in games of the past 10 years. This thing ran on my Amiga! come on! that thing looks pre...

This was one of my favourite games for my Amiga.

Edit: The best part of that video is "Everything you know is wrong"

Is that an animated bumpmap shader? or are you doing it another way?

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

So i have a working ray tracer now. I don't have any fancy bells or whistles like reflection or refraction yet though. right now i'm working on a scenegraph class to manage my objects and lights so i can keep it generic. My sphere intersection code was pretty snazzy though Anyway, here's a quick ima...

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

Jet: I did it for a class because I had to do something in OpenGL for it but I really just did it because A) I thought it'd be fun to do (shaders rock) and B) I'm probably going to use it for a Fire Emblem style game prototype. I've used 2D in 3D before and that's more or less what this engine provi...

request for grad school application

Hey now. I sent in my application for grad school this week and I'm pretty worried about what will happen with it. I really want to go to this school since it'd be perfect for what I'm planning to specialize in within my field. If I DID get accepted it would still mean a lot of work because it's on ...

There's a description of what takes place in each scene so it's better described there then here.

Re: Forward ray tracing

Hey! I just started writing a traditional ray tracer (eye to scene). You MAY want to make it so you can't say "i'm not a math guy" though since that's pretty much ALL a ray tracer is.

Re: Playing as a member of the opposite gender

I can still rock it with Sonja Blade in Mortal Kombat; the female characters in that game are generally faster so outside of subzero (nobody beats subzero) I went with either Sonja or Katana.
Also, for some reason people seem to fight over the girl in Left 4 Dead when they pick characters...
