Instant Action (Garage Games) closes Portland office

Looks like InstantAction wasn't able to make money off of anything but the Torque engine:

At least they didn't have to put their company up for sale like Emergent Technologies (Gamebryo) did.

Re: market over crowding?

is it just me or is the quality in many games dropping to a below pathetic level made by the main stream game developers? What do you mean? There are a ton of high-quality games coming or that have recently come out (take Braid, Airplanes, Left for Dead, Portal, Little Big Planet, etc). The problem...

Re: If you're a developer based in America, list your biz here

if you make a game good enough, costs to produce it wont matter, it will make the money back. You can't guarantee that though. The entertainment industry doesn't work like the insurance industry. Life is unpredictable due to global economics, social trends, and advances in technology. More than one...

Re: If you're a developer based in America, list your biz here

Sweet, thanks for sharing the URL! If your a game developer and all of the development is done in the US and not outsourced to India, that's acceptable. That's going to be more and more difficult not to do :P. What American, Canadian, and European game devs will probably end up doing is outsourcing ...

Re: Versions of HTML

I'd personally learn HTML 5 if you want to invest in a book. The basics haven't changed much (so even W3schools will help you learn a lot), you'd just need to change a few habits in the crazy new stuff that's under development. If all you want to do is basic web pages and not a copy of Facebook or Y...

Perhaps a better question would be, "What screen aspect ratio is your game"? That way people can scale and resize to their liking.

I'd enjoy participating this year, but I'll be travelling several times, starting school and working two jobs during the current dates and won't have time to do anything. Good luck to all who can though! You obviously don't know what it's like to have a career/family. ;) Not minimizing one or the ot...

Hehe. Unity was designed for Mac and PC development and has supported building for both platforms since 2006. Phone support was added in 2008, and web support has existed since 2006 as well.

Re: Talk is Cheap! Post what you're working on.

I've been using an iPad for a freelance job for two days now and have really been enjoying it. iOS 3.2 is a bit of drag, but when Apple releases 4.0 for iPad, I might actually buy one for myself. I'll be working with Unity and the iPad on a few projects for the rest of the fall and will post a few p...

This means you can now build for and target: Shockwave.com Kongregate.com Facebook.com Wooglie.com (a Unity3D only game portal) GameJolt.com (A giant porta...
