Re: Ubuntu 10.04 - 2 Thumbs up

Nice! That's great to hear! Yes, that is good to hear. If and when I move away from OS/X, I'm seriously thinking that Debian or Ubuntu might be my next venture. I don't plan on moving away from OS X, and I moved to it because Kubuntu at the time felt too hacky and I needed an aesthetic, stable envi...

I can tell you right now, he's not going to like it and doesn't see a problem with his addiction. If there is a way to disable and get around one of these products, he'll be looking for it. Yup, where there's a will there's a way, and if you have an admin user account on the computer, you can disab...

Sweet Unity 3 Rendering Effects

I was browsing through the Unity3d Vimeo channel when I ran in to this:

Those are some really nice effects. I'm specifically interested in the depth of field. I was going to write my own in about a month for a prototype, but I'll hold out until Unity 3's release.

Re: Is this code hackable?

Assuming you allow your compiler to let you compile with an uncalled function, it will be in memory. If you were to find out exactly where in memory it is, you could mess with it in some way. I'm not how you would actually call it though, or if it would only work with a dynamic library (.dll, or .so...

That looks pretty neat, Blacko. Hey, do you only do sculpting and modeling, or have you messed around with skeletons, rigging and animation?

http://blogs.unity3d.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/3.0-beta13.png We just pre-ordered Unity Pro 3.0. Doesn't it look sweet? (They also gave us Unity Pro 2.0 to hold us off for a while). Unity Tech is giving a $300 pre-order discount bringing Pro down to $1,200. We'll be using the rendering effects...

i haven't been here for probably half a decade but i figured i'd pop in and maybe get in the habit and actually stay some. We'd love to have your company. B.t.w anybody made any games with Unity3d? As Clint said, David has made a few (such as Evac-City ) and I've worked on a few, but only released ...

Re: CDN Base Game is now in SVN

Well, I think after C++, C# will be my next language. (A ways into the future) and I will ROCK YOUR WORLD! Having learned a bit of C++ in about 4 months last semester and then learning some C# on my own in my spare time, I must say, they are so similar you can learn them simultaneously without a hi...

Re: Facebook privacy settings

Yeah, like CPU quoted, FB claims that the info is used to "personalize" Facebook. Now I know some may feel that is just a guise, but even if that's true? At least they give you the option to turn it off and when I came onto the settings page, it was already deactivated. Yeah, I had to activate mine...

Select partners (currently just Microsoft Docs, Pandora, and Yelp) have the ability to automatically give you a more personalized experience when you're on their websites. When you visit one of these sites while also logged into Facebook, they can automatically use information you're already sharin...

Nicely done. The sound effects, visual effects, game play, and art style fit very nicely together.

How long did it take you to make the mini-game?

The Humble Indie Bundle Goes Open Source!

So as of 5/11/10, Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru HD, and Penumbra Overture pledge to go open source . Note, that this doesn't mean the art and other assets are free, but the source code powering the engines is. (So you have even less of a need to write your own now ;) ). Penumbra Overture's engine is now fre...
