Great job, mightybotme. It's a fun little game. :) I'll be writing a review for it later in the app store.

Hanclinto shot first and then wrote:4. Once upon a time there was ___. Every day, ___. One day ___. Because of that, ___. Because of that, ___. Until finally ___.
This is great. I think I'm going to try this for an impromptu bedtime story. :)

Re: Community Game: Super Holy Roller 3D!

The only one we've completed so far has been Bible Dave, and that was ages ago.

This is just a recommendation. Mack is currently collecting ideas for us to vote on. So, feel free to submit an idea.

God Bless!

Community Game: Super Holy Roller 3D!

A simple to make, tongue in cheek, bowling/pinball type game. SUPER HOLY ROLLER 3D! Roll your disciple down the aisle of the Mega Ultra Contemporary Worship Center, dodging pews and ushers as you race to the altar! Try to get there in record time, but watch out for Bibles along the way! They trigger...

Re: Putting small one man projects on your resume?

Are you applying for an artistic or game development position? If not, I suggest just listing it as one line under hobbies. Not to minimize it, but I think expounding on your hobbies too much can make you look lazy. Unless, of course, you'll be doing that kind of work for a living.

Re: samw3's SpeedGame: 4NR

Hey everybody! It's been a crazy holiday season this year, and my only recent contribution to CDN has been killing spam. Sorry I haven't been able to participate more. But I just wanted to post a quick message letting everyone know that P1XL has released 4NR on the app store. If you have an iOS devi...

Re: Mechanics, Design, and Aesthetics

Very nice read Arch! I was skeptical at first because the difference between mechanics and dynamics seemed too vague, but the section on iteration was really nice. I hadn't thought of dynamics as the interplay between multiple mechanics to help produce the challenges of the game, and the emotions ev...

And, here's my entry: The Square Games Arrows = Move Z = Fire X = Shield HUD: Life top left, Shield top right, Score on bottom. Our engine is currently broken from the SpeedGame, so I coded this totally from scratch in java in 2hrs 27mins. This game is written in Java. Depending on your system, you ...

Re: Speed Coder #16

Do they have to be primary colors, or can we use gradients and fancy shaders and stuff? Can I use a black and white grid, or give the background a color? (I'm being serious, btw. I want to be sure I'm clear on what you mean by "*just* BLUE YELLOW and RED squares") Also, so I understand, you're sayi...

Re: Pixel Art Research!

Lookin' good, brownboot. :)

About the water, several SNES games used the system's additive blending layer to render the water. That's rendered as background, blending, foreground.

Here's an example from Secret of Mana.

Re: Pixel Art Research!

To really get the SNES appeal, make sure you try and stick to the limitations of the system. The color palette is 15-bit, that means you only get 0 to 31 in your RGBs instead of 0-255. That's the same as having your RGB colors multiples of 8. Also, only 15 colors per sprite + 1 transparent. Some of ...
