New Particle Engine

Hey guys. I just recently wrote my own particle engine from scratch and integrated the QoobTris engine with Lua. Thought u guys might like to take a look.

Hey, that's really cool, I have to say though, the blocks look a bit plain with the surrounding environment.

Hey Mene-Mene. Thanks for the criticism. I think you are right actually so I just changed the rendering engine a bit. Does this look better?

Ah, IMO much better. Can you do textures? This cool picture popped into my head of green pieces having leaf patterns, blue pieces, water patterns, etc.

Nothing too fancy or realistic, just something to give the blocks that visual pop.

Loving the way this project is progressing!

Hey Brandon that looks really good. I do have a criticism as well, since you seem to welcome such things. In the example video, it's noticeable at the bottom that sometimes particles will just pop out (one second it's there, the next second it is gone) before they reach the screen edge, without fading out or anything. I'm sure it's something a slightly obscure like they probably are getting clipped by the near z plane or something, but in an otherwise smoothe and seemless demonstration, it slightly detracts from the experience in my silly opinion. Anyway good stuff!
