Dagur Dragon's Art Thread

Postby Dagur Dragon » Mon May 30, 2011 9:57 pm

So, I decided to listen to mightybotme and do my own art thread. I encourage anyone to criticize my work, and to comment freely. Thanks!

Although i maybe dont really see what that picture has to do with Tic-Tac-Toe game itself, i have to say, You have got amazingly good ambience feeling to that picture.

From that night sky and those castle stuff and city, such a strong feel on that picture.

Very strong. I like it very much.

I really like the silhouetted parts at the bottom, and the colors are nice.

Ok.. Mind if it tear it apart? :)

1. The flat right side of the rampart on the left of the castle doesn't look right to me
2. I'm expecting the inside of the "o" in Toe to have shading like the c's
3. The title is pretty low contrast and doesn't really pop. Currently, it looks more like a wallpaper than a title.
4. A possible marketing concern. Make the "EPIC!" a bit bigger? When people see this I'm afraid they'll see:

EPIC!
Tic-Tac-Toe

equating to.. "Ho, hum, another tic-tac-toe game."

God Bless!

Concur with sam, more contrast on the Tic Tac Toe. That said, love the way you did the lettering!

Thanks guys for the feedback! The reason why the menu screen is so odd for a tic-tac-toe game because it has two themes, heroes vs orcs, and survivors vs zombies.

Also, wow I didn't notice the "O", thanks sam for noticing that.

I've been working on some SNES style sprites for a future game. This is the first time I've worked on human sprites this large before. Again feel free to criticize my work.

@ Dagur Dragon - Overall, both pieces look nice and clean but I agree with a previous poster, I don't see what the menu screen has to do with Tic-Tac-Toe. I have attached a quick over paint to explore another idea that deals with X's vs. O's. I also added a bit more depth to the image for interest through the addition of a Foreground and a Background element.

I wasn't concerned with making anything ledgeable. I was more concerned with the connection of the screen representing the game type and adding artistic depth through layers. The foreground elements were shape abstractions. I leave the object designs up to you. It could be a tree, a bug or whatever else you like. What matters is that there is a relateable FG object.

I haven't been working on that much pixel art lately and I though I would try making a new logo for my company in pixel art. I doubt I would actually use it but it was a fun little project to do.

Really like the retro look and colors of the new logo. :)

After many unsatisfactory versions of our logo, I finally made one I liked. It's simple, clean and has a bit of a Asian feel to it.
