Favorite parts of Development

Postby Mene-Mene » Thu Nov 05, 2009 1:32 pm

What are your favorite parts of development? I asked this question in two channels on IRC... But it'd be easier to ask it here.

My favorite parts are writing AI, and programming at the very beginning of a project and designing how systems interact and programming them in.

AI?!? You're only going add to the robot invasion!
Be part of the solution, man!

I enjoy, sitting or pacing around the room, designing an architecture for any software problem I'm going to design for.

And when everything actually works.

I like the part of development when you get the girls. Which is ALL THE TIME with my wicked computer-hacking skillz.

Also, I'm trying to kickstart the robot uprising with my evolving AI research :D

I first want to see a plausible strategy that you will engineer into the construction of your robots to prevent them from uprising against their own creators.

Like laws? I think 3 of them should be good enough.

But for safety sake, let's make 42 of them.

My favorite parts are when you and your devmates get to the beta and begin to play your game together as users and not as developers.

My second favorite part is 2 seconds after the game goes live.

Haha...sorry, but that's not a "plausible" strategy.

Give me a strategy, not a cop out!

while you have been talking over this, I have successfully merged myself with the internet.
I have already taken several factories under my control, who are now beginning production developing my robotic army and several avatars for me to interact with you puny mortals. I have also usurped several key military stations and my global domination will commence. With my new found power, my empire will stretch to the stars and I will have achieved immortality.

How's that for nerdy?

My favorite part of development is using a scripting system that you made yourself, and AI programming, which can be the same thing at times. I also enjoy refactoring and organizing code. I'm an absolute neat freak :P

I haven't gotten to actually developing yet, but knowing me as I do (and I do know me, regardless of the claims of at least one guy on the board), it would probably be the pure design on paper, all the categorizing, mapping of zones, conceptual organization, etc.
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, "Will ye also go away?" Then Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that Thou art that Christ, the Son of the Living God." John 6:67-69
