CDN CG 2014 -- Game Status (Unity Port)

This thead is dedicated to the current status of the Unity Port of the game. I will edit the original post with the latest status so it is always at the top.

Current game status as of 9/25
- Upgraded version to 0.2.1 Alpha Version!
- Fixed Early Release
- Show ability area of effect
- Added backgrounds to cinematics
- Added more details to the title scene
- Added more story with an option to skip it
- Enable/Disable music and sound effects
- Ensure level design matches the map
- Fixed so units won't attack until the target is fully on the square within it's range
- Black out units/abilities that the player doesn't have enough money for
- Show attacker wave progression
- Balance ability/unit unlock cost
- Buffed teachers and orators
- Fixed lava lane GFX glitch
- Fix hang when unit spawnings back up
- Completed the tutorial

Current game status as of 8/20
- Upgraded version to 0.2.0 Alpha Version!
- Fixed graphic glitches that caused borders around some tiles
- Redesigned bonus shard system so the player can get up to 5 for swipes
- Made release timer more user friendly
- Implemented a new difficulty for levels based on an algorithm
- Added chapter 4 levels (all 60 levels now completed)
- Character art for merchant, orc, Loveflesh, orc warleader
- Updated story dialogue
- Show player valid tiles to place units
- Created the game end cinematic
- Added a finale feature for boss levels
- Added unit counters for orcs
- Click through the shard to orb conversion
- Fixed all sprite sort order issues
- Added a scaling for unit costs as they get upgraded
- Added chapter 4 map

Current game status as of 5/13
- Upgraded version to 0.1.2 (next version will be alpha!)
- Added all 15 levels for chapter 3 including dialogue (1 more chapter to go for a total of 60 levels!)
- Chapter 3 level selection art (cool looking caves!)
- Created Chapter 3 Cinematics
- Added orc units for chapter 3
- Added Illpause, Mayor Understanding and Judge Conscience character art
- Added sound effects
- Show unit counters in UI
- Create cave, lava, water, and snow lanes for chapter 3
- Create cave and snow placeables
- Fixed a bug where pressing Release button too many times would crash the game
- Added Victory, Defeat, Title, and level music
- Fixed numerous dialogue mis-spellings
- Fade in level selection screen
- Made levels 14 and 15 a little easier
- Destroying all units after level ends
- Notify player when enemy units get stronger
- In assault mode, waiting till all shards are picked up before ending the level
- Fixed up the release of projectiles to match the animations
- Beefed the tutorial up to 18 steps
- Redesigned the title scene
- Redesigned the credits scene
- Slowed cinematics down
- Release button disappears when not needed
- Shards now spawn after enemies die
- Get extra shards when swiping more than 3 in a row
- Chapter next and previous buttons only appear when chapter 1 is beaten
- Added daily login bonus (get spirit orbs)
- When trying to spawn a unit over another unit it goes to the left or the right instead of just fail
- Dialogue now appears letter by letter

Current game status as of 4/9:
- Upgraded version to 0.1.1
- Added all 15 levels for chapter 2 including dialogue
- Created Chapter 2 Cinematics
- Move animations made for ALL weapons now
- Judge Conscience character art drawn
- Added Walls requiring units attacking in all lanes
- Fixing a bug where ranged units wouldn't attack correctly in an earthquake
- Adding some animations to help new players learn the game
- Making things easier to push for mobile builds
- Upgrades to abilities will make them better
- Main Music theme composed and added
- Implemented chapter framework
- Level select map for chapter 2 drawn
- Added spirit orb bonus for completing levels for the first time
- Cut scenes can fade in and out
- Improved Market design
- Fixed an issue where progress on Mobile wouldn't save on forced quits
- Giving spirit shard rewards for releasing waves early
- Defeated enemies drop shards that must be clicked
- Errata : Bug where clicking release too many times will cause a crash

Current game status as of 2/25:
- Upgraded version to 0.1.0
- Added all 15 levels for chapter 1 including dialogue
- Balanced units, abilities, and levels
- Added final chapter 1 map
- Added transparent placeholder images for Character Art
- Changed unit names
- Adding level customization (lane enable/disable, placeables) to make the levels unique
- Implemented Catapult, Shield, and Earthquake abilities
- Added staff movement animations for the elder unit
- Added attackers let through display
- Added button to release waves early
- Added text to display time until the next wave comes
- Fading the Title screen in from black
- Added ability to go backward in dialogue
- Created a credits scene
- Popup a window after the level is completed for the player to decide what to do next
- Restricting unit placement based on map and play type
- Errata : Pressing the Release button too many times on certain levels will cause a game crash

Current game status as of 1/20:
- Final Logo completed
- Refactor level load to parse data files and using streaming assets so they can be included in mobile install packages
- Show player spirit orbs gained from the level
- Fix bug where upgrades can't be unlocked when resource cost is equal
- Character art for Forgetgood
- Character art for Captain Resistance
- Walk sprites for swords of the swordsmen
- Increase size of upgrade button
- Add cut-scenes to levels
- Display cost of each unit/ability/upgrade
- Ballista ability implemented
- Game loss condition in assault mode when there are zero attackers and not enough spirit shards to do anything
- Fix HP Bar size of units so they don't overlap
- Display number of attackers let through

- Using 4:3 aspect ratio for screen resolutions
- Changing font for text to open source Romulus
- Showing weapons when unit is idle
- Adding HUD for unit display and spawn
- Fixing units stopping between tiles
- Display Spirit Orbs (out of level to unlock new units and new upgrades)
- Display Spirit Shards (in level to upgrade unit types)
- Adding Spearman unit
- Adding Staff unit
- Adding wand unit
- Making archer unit look like an archer
- Fixing health bar sorting layer
- Fixing weapon to be invisible when unit dies
- Adding scene to unlock new units and upgrades

Current game status as of 11/6:
- Added an options menu to quit or restart the level (game paused while menu is up)
- Added unit health bars (green for player and red for enemy)
- Added unit spawn menu for choosing which unit to spawn
- Added level selection screen
- Added win/loss messages for levels and a message for beating the game

- Attackers can now advance from the right side of the screen

Current game status as of 10/8:
- Created a debug level
- Players can spawn bow-knights
- Players can move the bow-knights from one tile to another
- Waves of sword-knights advance from the left-hand side of the screen
- Bow knights can attack the sword-knights and defeat them
- Sword-knights can advance to the right-hand side of the screen and disappear

- Skeleton scripts committed to the repository
- Initial prototype Sprite with bow and sword animation committed to the repository
- Had a meeting on 10/1 and decided it is time to start working on a prototype. We will plan this out in 3 high level blocks with major components. The goal is to get a playable tower defense game where 2 debug levels can be selected, the player can place units, see enemy units, the attackers advance, opposing units will combat each other when in range, units will die when health is depleted, the player can win or lose.
- Decided on grid size of 18x10
