Developer Blog: Jestermax

Postby jestermax » Fri Jun 12, 2009 11:12 pm

So tonight I played a ps2 game called Dynasty Warriors 5. I didn't think I'd like it but I gave it a try anyway. It was surprisingly fun, especially two player. I can see it getting somewhat repetitive, but I enjoyed unlocking new items and powerups.

Oh yeah, there's a contest going on. I should probably get going on that at some point...

I'm surprised we haven't seen screens from the great project of CPU and his Unity machine.

So I went to this festival today (Festival of Music). I usually don't like it but a band I liked was playing (USS). They were surprisingly good and entertaining. One of the guy was bouncing around the stage dancing and doing handstands. Eventually they pulled out a cardboard cutout of David Suzuki and made smoothies during a song.

Oh yeah, and also I worked on my game a bit.

Did you use the content engine you built last year?

QFT - except not quoted.

I got stuck at the dancing minigame, though - couldn't win, couldn't leave.(it was very well done, btw. :D )

Really funny game (as in funny haha - good funny). You did a lot of graphics and gameplay in 2 weeks! Good stuff man :) God bless.

All: Thanks for the kind words. I had a lot of fun making it actually, more than I initially thought. The game turned out almost exactly what I planned which is a success in my books. The storyboard sketches made everything really smooth when I went to create the content and code. Good times.

Mene: what do you mean "content engine"? If you mean Torque, then yes I used Torque. If you mean same gameplay code as last year, no, I wrote everything.

Actually, I even went the route of using Behaviours which I rarely do

I'll write a review once all the games are out, but to give the short of it, the game felt bland.

Mene: Well, I wasn't exactly thinking of you when I made it so I apologize if you didn't enjoy it. At least I got 2+ play-throughs
