Wild Wings - New Project

Postby brownboot » Fri May 30, 2014 6:02 am

Hey gang! Some amazing looking posts recently, very excited to see all the projects everybody has been up to!

Here's one I've been working on:

Wild Wings is a throwback aerial combat game. Focused on fast action and easy to dive right in to (think Starfox/Rogue Squadron/Crimson Skies). We've got a working prototype that I've been fine tuning the plane performance numbers with so we're well on our way. We'll launch on five platforms (ouya, pc, mac, ios, android) with cross platform multiplayer on all of them.

Seth Crofton (Wind Up Robots, and other stuff) has been putting this together and I've jumped in to take over development. We're excited to be working with this great IP that celebrates military history and tradition without glorifying war. And we've been able to work with GameChurch (http://www.gamechurch.com) to put together a custom GameChurch paintjob:

...and we'll also include their gamer Jesus logo as a fin decal you can put on your plane.

We just launched our Kickstarter campaign which you can checkout here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/di ... wild-wings

I'd love to hear what you guys think about the project so far and any thoughts/questions/concerns you have. And as always, happy to answer dev/art related questions.

Ever heard of Eric Schwartz?

He made couple of famous airplane animations for Amiga around 90s. Just instantly came to my mind hes animations when i saw your planes with faces.

If you havent heard of him, I will dig out links to his animations, perhaps you get even some new ideas by watching them.

I just noticed it was based upon someone elses acronauts, so i guess you wouldnt necessarily know Eric Schwartz animations.

Seems someone had done a good compilation of them. I dont think these are all the Aeronaut animations he have done, but at least this gives a good idea what it is about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSJePQKlGe8
Seems they are mostly from 89-91.
